Wine lovers in Worcester will be popping corks in excitement this week as Rizzo’s Wine Club & Delicatessen officially opens its doors on King Street on Friday 22 May.
Founded by former Simpsons Restaurant General Manager Gianluca Austin-Rizzo, the new independent venture will offer a curated range of Italian wines alongside artisan deli products sourced from across Italy.
After spending the last three years building a loyal following through wine education events and tastings in Worcester, Gianluca is now bringing his passion for authentic Italian food and wine to a permanent city-centre location.
Originally from Copertino in Puglia, Southern Italy, Gianluca grew up exploring his grandfather’s vineyards before moving to the UK in 1999 aged 17 and building a successful career in hospitality, including at Michelin-starred Simpsons Restaurant in Birmingham.
Speaking ahead of the launch, Gianluca said: “My vision has always been to bring a genuine taste of Italy to Worcester. Everything we stock has been carefully selected to reflect the quality, tradition and authenticity of Italian produce.”
Alongside the delicatessen, Rizzo’s Wine Club will continue to offer wine subscriptions ranging from one month to one year, as well as seasonal hampers, tasting experiences and personalised wine recommendations.
Rizzo’s Wine Club & Delicatessen officially opens on Friday 22 May on King Street, Worcester, with customers invited to enjoy a complimentary glass of prosecco during the opening weekend.
