The team behind the popular Wayland’s Yard announces the launch of Kyndfolk, a vibrant new café and community space located at the Pump House in Gheluvelt Park, Worcester.
Now open, Kyndfolk is set to become a neighbourhood hub where friends, families, and neighbours can come together to enjoy incredible food, great coffee, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Kyndfolk blends the best of food, coffee, and community in a unique setting. With 50 internal covers, including 44 in the sun trap of a courtyard at the rear, and 36 covered seats under shaded pergolas to the right, the space is designed for every occasion, whether you’re enjoying a morning pick-me-up or a leisurely afternoon brunch. Both external areas are festoon-lit, creating a cosy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for dining, socialising, or simply soaking in the views.
Located in a beautifully restored Victorian pumphouse, Kyndfolk’s striking setting is as much a part of the experience as its incredible menu. The café serves Odd Kin Coffee, a local roaster known for its ethically sourced beans, alongside a vibrant, seasonal menu designed to cater to a range of dietary preferences.
“Our goal with Kyndfolk is simple; to create a place where community can thrive,” says Adam Edney, founder of Kyndfolk.
“Whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee, meeting a friend, or spending the day with your family, this is a space where you can always feel at home. And we’re proud to offer a space with real values at its heart.”
Kyndfolk’s unique features include:
• Community Room: An upstairs space available for free weekday bookings, supporting local special interest groups and classes. From Pilates, yoga, and toddler-parent groups to art classes, health and wellbeing sessions, and charity meetings, the room is a perfect place to foster connection. Outside of opening hours, the space is available for rent for occasions and children’s parties, with only a food booking required to make it yours.
• Family Room: A dedicated space designed to support families with young children, featuring a 3-meter changing counter, low-level chairs, footrests, and a semi-sheer curtain for privacy while breastfeeding. The room also offers a peaceful environment for children with sensory concerns, making it an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of a busy café.
• Outdoor Spaces: A front garden with stunning park views, a large side courtyard for socialising and dining, and a quiet rear courtyard perfect for relaxing or working outdoors. Each space has been designed to foster connection with nature and the local community, while still offering a retreat from the busy world.
This summer, Kyndfolk will introduce A Kynd of Late Night, a new weekend evening series running every Friday and Saturday from 4:30pm to 9:00pm. During these evenings, the courtyard will be transformed into a festoon-lit social space featuring a rotating lineup of street food vendors, an outdoor drinks bar, and a dedicated ice cream bar. Acoustic live music and a family-friendly atmosphere will set the tone for a relaxed end-of-week gathering. The series will launch on 13th and 14th June with Buddha Belly, known for its award-winning Thai street food.
Kyndfolk is also in the process of developing a community garden, where fresh produce will be grown for use in the café’s seasonal menu. In collaboration with local schools and community groups, the initiative will give participants the opportunity to earn loyalty rewards redeemable in the café, creating a hands-on, sustainable connection between the community and the food being served.
In addition to the welcoming community, Kyndfolk offers a ‘Cup That’s Kynd’ initiative, where customers can bring a reusable cup and enjoy discounts on drinks every time it is used for takeaway.
